In a historic accomplishment, the Platte County R-3 football and volleyball teams have both earned spots in the Missouri state championship tournaments after completing undefeated regular seasons — the first time in school history both major fall sports teams have qualified for state play in the same season. The football team, led by head coach James Morrison in his fifth season, finished 12-0 and earned the top seed in their classification. The team outscored opponents 468-187 during the regular season, with a dynamic offense that averaged 39 points per game.
